Inspiring people create inspiring stories!
The path to identifying organizations, building partnerships as the most important segment of the inter-sectoral and investment in direct financial and pro-bono support of these initiatives from the business sector is a serious challenge. The achievements we have made so far within the platform are the driver to continue even more engaged.
Encouraging steps forward have been made so far:
- Konekt with a mixed panel honored 22 companies and individuals from companies for being leaders of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with 8 awards and 14 recognitions – video of the presentation of the awards for the leaders of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2021 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWSt7c_tdTM
- We assessed the conditions and needs of 35 local governments from 8 planning regions for the Sustainable Development Goals to be applied locally;
● With workshops in a mixed composition in 4 municipalities, we worked on the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals and defined which goals are the most important for all citizens;
● We formed a group as colorful as our society. 80 representatives of institutions, civic organizations, businesses, media, citizens and young people defined in which Goals for sustainable development we can work together. Then we identified civil society organizations ready to work together with businesses, institutions and other sectors. We jointly conceived and implemented 4 cross-sector partnership projects dedicated to 6 Sustainable Development Goals that enabled:
- Over 200 young people, of which 32% are from low-income families, to increase their employability, improve their skills and gain self-confidence and motivation;
- 100 fellow citizens facing poverty, of which 72 street children received help and support to acquire basic rights and education;
- 100 women from rural areas whose markets closed during the pandemic started selling online;
- 32 businesses got the opportunity to directly engage in useful initiatives, to cooperate with civil society organizations and jointly build changes for the better.
Although we are at the very beginning, the continuous involvement of more and more stakeholders and the strengthening of inter-sectoral cooperation give us confidence that we are on the right path.
