The initiatives showed that the power of joint action and creating partnerships allows the community to achieve specific goals and steps from the 2030 Agenda, by using its own resources.

The civil sector, that is, civil initiatives and their involvement is particularly important for identifying challenges, collecting data on the situation on the ground and monitoring achievements, especially the most vulnerable categories, through representation and provision of services. Civil organizations work to improve the environment in which they operate, in which their freedoms are respected and secured, to strive for financial stability and sustainability, dialogue and partnership with various stakeholders that contribute to the realization of the goals for sustainable development. The academic community is a part of the civil sector that can contribute with its own resources in support of initiatives. A successful example of cooperation is the “Nasa tezga” project from Rural Coalition in which the academic institution FINKI was involved with support through the development of the web platform.

Key to cross-sector cooperation is the involvement of the business community, represented by individuals and companies from the private sector. The action of the business community is of great importance because of the impact they have on economic development, the environment, the workforce, energy, and the standard of living. By taking an active part in the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals, companies become an active and responsible corporate citizen that benefits society, at the same time developing on the principles of sustainable business, ESG, etc.

Municipalities and municipal councils have a significant role in the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals. Through partnerships and the implementation of initiatives together with the civil and private business sectors, the municipalities, through the recommendations and measures obtained from the social mapping, create or supplement the social action plans, which achieve specific goals according to the vulnerable categories. A positive example of a municipality that has taken a step ahead of other municipalities is Bitola, which has included the recommendations and measures in the Social Plan 2021-2024, as a long-term plan for dealing with and realizing the goals for sustainable development that target people with disabilities.

This platform is confirmation that good cross-sector brings solutions to problems. Get inspired by the examples and think about what changes you want to achieve and who would be the best partners for you.

The importance of cooperation and partnership in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals implies mutual responsibility and solidarity, constant exchange and expertise to ensure the full realization of the goals, which are a roadmap to a better world for all.
